Restoration Services for Public Spaces

Restoration for public buildings in Barnet: halls, classrooms and offices finished with minimal disruption.

Restoring floors in schools, churches and offices

A public building floor has to cope with heavy footfall, events, furniture and sometimes sport. Done well, a sanded and properly finished wooden floor lasts for decades and looks better than any replacement. We work for headteachers, facilities managers, church committees and office managers, and we fit our work around your calendar.

Who we work with

Minimal disruption

We know a hall cannot simply close for a week. Work can be phased room by room, done out of hours, or completed over a holiday so the building is ready when you need it. Our dust-free machines and low-VOC finishes keep the rest of the building usable while we work.

Compliance you can rely on

Public buildings need the right paperwork, and we provide it as standard. Before any job we supply risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and we can send copies of our £5m public liability insurance certificate. Our team is experienced in working safely in occupied buildings.

Floors for sport and activity

Sports hall floors need a finish that is hardwearing, easy to clean and safe to play on. Our sports lacquers are designed for heavy use, and court lines are painted between coats so they are sealed under the final layer. A properly finished hall floor stays safe and smart for years. We can also advise on cleaning regimes for caretaking and cleaning teams.

The case for restoration

  • Far lower cost than a new hardwood or sports floor

  • Keeps original, high-quality timber and the character of the building

  • Less waste and a lower environmental impact

  • Faster turnaround, often within a holiday period

Keeping floors in good condition

A restored floor lasts much longer with a simple maintenance plan. A light re-coat every year or two, timed for quieter periods, keeps busy floors protected and avoids the cost of a full sand. Good entrance matting and the right cleaning products make a noticeable difference. Many of our school and church clients have been with us for years.

We begin with a free survey and give you a fixed price and timetable. Our guide prices give an idea of costs, and larger projects receive a tailored quote.

What we offer

Most projects combine full floor sanding with wood floor repairs to loose blocks or damaged boards. Regular re-coating keeps heavy-use floors looking good between full sands. Our projects page shows some of the halls and public buildings we have worked on.

Always. RAMS and insurance certificates are supplied before work starts.

Can you re-apply sports court markings?

FAQ

Questions about Public Spaces

All questions
Can the work fit around term times?

We regularly work during holidays, evenings and weekends. Large halls are often completed within a week, so disruption is kept to a minimum.

Are your oils and lacquers pet-friendly?

Yes. We use low-VOC oils and water-based lacquers that are safe for children and pets once fully dry. Keep pets off the floor for the first 24 hours, and keep claws trimmed to help the finish last.

Can you repaint sports hall markings?

Yes. After sanding we apply a slip-resistant sports lacquer and can repaint court markings for badminton, netball and other games between coats so they are sealed in. Read more about our school floor restoration.

Do you work on listed buildings and church halls?

Yes — we restore halls, churches and community spaces, often around services and bookings. We treat older floors with care and choose finishes suited to heavy public use. See churches and community halls.

Will office work disrupt our staff?

Office floors can be done out of hours or in phases. Our dust-free machines and water-based lacquers mean minimal disruption to your team.

Do you provide risk assessments and method statements?

Yes — we supply RAMS and insurance certificates for every commercial or public project. Our team is used to working on occupied sites with strict safety rules.

Quick, clean and professional

“We had the hallway and living room sanded and lacquered over two days. They protected the skirting and doors, and they hoovered up before leaving each evening.”
K Katie J.
High Barnet

No more draughts

“Our front room was always cold because of the gaps in the boards. They filled them with pine slivers blend in perfectly and we have felt the difference already. They were upfront that filled gaps can move with the seasons, which I appreciated.”
A Anita S.

Lacquered floor looking fresh

“Our lacquered oak had lots of fine scratches from the dog. A light abrade and new coat of lacquer has made it smooth and shiny again. Useful advice on felt pads and mats as well.”
